What you pay as a solo creator

Say you post to TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram. That is 3 channels. On Buffer's free plan you pay nothing, but you can only queue 10 posts per channel at a time. On Buffer Essentials you pay $5 x 3 = $15/mo, or $60 x 3 = $180 a year billed yearly. Hootsuite Standard starts at $99, per its FAQ. Our capture did not show whether that figure is monthly or the yearly rate.

Where Hootsuite earns its price

Hootsuite bundles a shared inbox, brand monitoring and competitor benchmarking. Higher plans add inbox automation, custom reports, content approvals and message routing. Those help a team that answers lots of comments and DMs. A solo creator who just wants posts to go out on time will not use most of it.

One note on the trial: Hootsuite says the trial needs no card and does not charge you when it ends. Trial accounts have daily posting limits of 10 to 20 posts and no bulk scheduling.

Buffer's catch

Buffer charges for every connected channel once you upgrade. Add more platforms and the bill grows. Its analytics are also lighter than tools built for reporting.
