How TikTok pays creators

  • The Creator Rewards Program (CRP) pays for qualified views on original videos over 1 minute long (TikTok Newsroom, 2024-03-18; TikTok Help).
  • The CRP replaced the Creativity Program Beta, which in turn replaced the older Creator Fund.
  • The 'Optimized Rewards Formula' weighs originality, play duration (watch time and finish rate), search value, and audience engagement. It also factors in the account's ad value.
  • A video must reach 1,000 qualified For You feed views before it starts earning (TikTok Help, per search summary).
  • Qualified views are unique For You feed views. Fraudulent, paid, promoted, artificial, and disliked or 'not interested' views are excluded, as are views under 5 seconds. Repeat views from the same account count once per video.

Who can earn

  • Age 18+ (19+ in South Korea).

Questions

How much does TikTok pay per 1 million views?

Under the Creator Rewards Program, commonly cited estimates are $400 to $1,000 per 1 million qualified views (Influencer Marketing Hub, Oct 2026). Only qualified views on videos over 1 minute count, so total views will usually earn less than that.

Why do sites say TikTok pays only $20–$40 per million views?

That figure comes from the old Creator Fund, which split a fixed pool and paid about $0.02–$0.04 per 1,000 views. It was replaced by the Creator Rewards Program, which pays on qualified views of 1-minute-plus videos and weighs engagement, so old numbers don't apply.

Who can join the TikTok Creator Rewards Program?

You must be 18+, have at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 views in the last 30 days, use a personal account in good standing, and live in a country where the program is offered. Videos must be original and over 1 minute (TikTok Newsroom).

Do short TikToks under 1 minute earn money?

Not from the Creator Rewards Program. Only videos longer than 1 minute are eligible, and each needs 1,000 qualified For You views before it starts earning.

Can creators in India earn from TikTok?

TikTok has been unavailable in India since 2020, so creators based in India can't join the Creator Rewards Program. The rupee option here is just a currency conversion.
