How many hashtags can I use on Instagram?
Five. Instagram's @creators account announced on December 18, 2025 that it would gradually limit captions on posts and reels to five hashtags, down from 30. Meta's developer documentation still lists 30, but the app enforces five. Captions can be up to 2,200 characters with 20 @ tags.

Five. Since August 2025 the TikTok app has stopped people adding more than five hashtags to a post, with a prompt to use accurate hashtags. TikTok has not published this limit in its help pages. Captions posted through its API can be up to 2,200 characters.
