Short answer: if you only post to TikTok, schedule for free in TikTok Studio on desktop. For Reels only, Meta Business Suite is free. To schedule TikTok, Reels and Shorts from one place for $0, start with Buffer or Publer (3 accounts, 10 queued posts each) or Metricool (1 brand, 20 posts a month). For unlimited posts on a budget, look at Postiz or Repostit.

A scheduler saves you from posting by hand at the right hour. Before you pick one, check three things: whether there is a free plan and how far it goes, what the cheapest paid plan costs, and whether the tool posts to TikTok directly. This page answers those three for each tool, using each provider's pricing page and help pages.

"Posts to TikTok" means the tool lists TikTok as a network it can publish to. Some tools may send you a phone reminder instead for posts TikTok won't accept automatically.

Free: the platforms' own schedulers

TikTok Studio

TikTok Studio is TikTok's free creator app and desktop hub for editing, uploading and analytics. TikTok's Video Scheduler announcement says you can schedule a post from 15 minutes to 10 days ahead, from the upload page on the web. Some newer TikTok pages mention a longer window, so check the date picker when you schedule. It only posts to TikTok, so you still need another tool for Reels and Shorts.

Meta Business Suite

Meta Business Suite is Meta's free tool to schedule Reels and posts across Instagram and Facebook. It does not post to TikTok or YouTube. If Reels are your only short-form channel, you may not need anything else.

Free plans that cover TikTok, Reels and Shorts

Buffer

Buffer Free covers up to 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts per channel and 30 days of insights. Essentials is $5/mo per channel, or $60 per channel a year, with unlimited posts. Buffer's help page says TikTok posts can publish automatically, or Buffer can send a phone reminder so you finish the post in the TikTok app. Paid plans charge for every channel, so the cost grows with each account you add.

Publer

Publer Free lets you connect 3 social accounts, not counting X. You can have up to 10 scheduled posts at once per account, and once one goes out you can queue another. Publer's pricing page lists TikTok personal and business accounts, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. Professional starts at $5/mo for one account, and Business at $10/mo, with 20% off yearly.

Metricool

Metricool Free covers 1 brand with 20 scheduled posts a month and 30 days of analytics. It does not include LinkedIn or X. Starter is $20/mo billed yearly ($25 monthly) for 5 brands with unlimited posts. Pick it if you also want analytics and competitor tracking.

Planoly

Planoly Free works in the mobile app only, with 10 uploads a month. Starter is $14/mo billed yearly ($168/yr), or $16 monthly in the app, with unlimited posts and a 14-day free trial. In our test, the web app offered 8 networks, including TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.

Paid tools with unlimited posts

Postiz

Postiz is an open-source scheduler. The cloud version has no free plan, only a 7-day trial on every plan. Standard is $23/mo billed yearly ($29 monthly) for 5 channels with unlimited posts. You can also host the open-source code yourself for free, but then you must get approval from each social network on your own, which Postiz says can take weeks.

Repostit

Repostit takes finished short videos and cross-posts them to TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels and YouTube Shorts using rules you set, with no watermarks on reposts. There is no free plan, but there is a 14-day free trial with no card. Basic is $5/mo for 10 posts, billed monthly only. Unlimited posts start at $10/mo billed yearly ($14 monthly).

Mixpost

Mixpost runs on your own server. Lite is free and open source, but it only posts to Facebook Pages, X and Mastodon. Pro is $299 one-time and adds TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.

Team suites

Later

Later has no free plan, only a free trial. Starter is $18.75/mo billed yearly ($25 monthly) for 1 social set of 8 profiles, with 30 posts per profile. It focuses on visual Instagram planning and link-in-bio.

Hootsuite

Hootsuite has no free plan. Its 14-day trial starts without a card. In our test, TikTok was one of 11 networks offered. Plans start at $99/user/mo billed yearly, which is a lot for one creator.

Vista Social

Vista Social adds an inbox, reviews and reporting to scheduling, and posts to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. It starts at $80/mo billed yearly ($99 monthly).

How to schedule Instagram Reels

If Reels is the only thing you schedule, you do not need a paid tool. Meta Business Suite is Meta's free tool for scheduling Reels and posts across Instagram and Facebook. To schedule the same video to Reels, TikTok and Shorts in one go, every tool in the table except TikTok Studio and Meta Business Suite lists all three platforms.

  1. Export the Reel at 9:16 and 1080x1920.
  2. For Reels only, open Meta Business Suite, create the Reel, then pick a date and time instead of publishing now.
  3. For Reels plus TikTok and Shorts, connect the accounts in one scheduler, such as the free plans of Buffer, Publer or Metricool, and queue the same file to each.
  4. Check that the music is cleared on every platform you post to. A song licensed on one app is not automatically licensed on another.

How to choose

  • TikTok only, $0: use TikTok Studio on desktop.
  • Reels only, $0: use Meta Business Suite.
  • TikTok, Reels and Shorts, $0: Buffer or Publer for 3 accounts with 10 queued posts each, or Metricool for 1 brand with 20 posts a month.
  • One video posted everywhere: Repostit cross-posts each finished video by rules.
  • Many posts on a budget: Postiz Standard has unlimited posts for 5 channels.
  • Pay once: Mixpost Pro, if you can run your own server.
  • A team with an inbox and approvals: Hootsuite or Vista Social.
