Short answer: for podcasts and long talking-head videos, start with OpusClip or Vizard. Both cost $14.50/mo billed yearly ($29 monthly) for their main paid plan. For Twitch and Kick streams, look at Eklipse or StreamLadder. For faceless channels, GPT-Video gave us a clip with no watermark on its free trial and has rooms for Reddit story and fake text videos. For agencies, Vizard Business and Klap Pro+ add more social accounts or a higher clip count. On a tight budget, SupoClip is $8.33/mo billed yearly ($9.99 monthly), or free if you host it yourself.

This page ranks AI video clippers by the job you need done, paid plans included. If you only want $0 options, see the best free AI clipping tools instead. Prices and limits below come from each provider's pricing page. Results marked as "our test" come from our own hands-on runs in October 2026.

Plan details from each provider's pricing page, as listed in our tool data. "What our test found" is from our own runs between October 26 and 28, 2026, on free plans or free trials. The tests used two different videos, so clip counts only line up for tools tested on the same video.

OpusClip vs Klap: the same 8-minute video through both

We gave OpusClip and Klap the same 8-minute history video on their free trials. OpusClip let us download a clip, with its logo on it; Klap did not let us download.

How we tested

  • We uploaded the same 8-minute history video (1080p, 55 MB) from a creator who uses ShortStack to both tools.
  • OpusClip ran on a free trial of its Pro plan and Klap on its free trial, with default settings, on Oct 27, 2026.
  • In OpusClip we clicked "Get clips in 1 click"; in Klap we used the default "Generate ~7 shorts".
  • Then we tried to download the top clip from each tool and checked the file.
  • Trials change, so your limits may differ.

How we test every tool

We also ran one 10-minute NASA video through Vizard, Choppity, quso.ai and GPT-Video on their free plans or trials. Those results are in the free AI clipping tools test.

The clippers, tool by tool

OpusClip: best for podcasters who want speed

OpusClip takes an upload or a YouTube link and cuts it into captioned vertical clips. Free gives 60 credits a month with a watermark. Starter is $15/mo with monthly billing only: 150 credits, no watermark and auto-posting to Shorts, TikTok and Reels. Pro is $14.50/mo billed yearly ($29 monthly) for 300 credits, a social scheduler, dubbing, export to Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, and 2 seats. Business has custom pricing with an API.

Our test: on a free Pro trial, OpusClip found 14 clips in an 8-minute video in about 3 minutes. The picks matched the video's topics, and faces stayed in frame. The download was 1080x1920 at 30 fps, but it had an OpusClip logo in the upper left. An auto headline and one-word captions were on by default. Compare it head to head: OpusClip vs Vizard, Klap vs OpusClip and OpusClip alternatives.

Vizard: best for long podcasts and two-person videos

Vizard counts 1 credit as 1 upload minute. Free gives 60 credits a month at 720p with a watermark and 3-day storage. Creator is $14.50/mo billed yearly ($29 monthly) for 600 credits, 4K export, no watermark, 6 social accounts and scheduled posts. That is twice OpusClip Pro's 300 credits for the same price.

Our test: on the free plan, Vizard found 11 clips in a 10-minute video and showed 10. It took about 2 minutes 15 seconds. Two speakers were stacked in a clean split screen. Three of four downloads worked at 720x1280 with a Vizard.ai watermark. The fourth opened an upgrade prompt, and one clip ended mid-sentence.

Klap: best for a fixed number of clips a month

Klap sells plans by clips per month, with unlimited social accounts on all plans. Basic is $14/mo billed yearly ($29 monthly) for 100 clips. Pro is $39/mo billed yearly ($79 monthly) for 300 clips, and Pro+ is $94/mo billed yearly ($189 monthly) for 1,000 clips. Klap has no free plan, and its pricing page does not list export resolution or watermark terms.

Our test: on the free trial, Klap picked 7 shorts of 16 to 40 seconds from our 8-minute video in about 5 to 6 minutes. Each short came with a written reason for its score. The download button opened an "Upgrade to download" screen, so plan to pay before you get a file.

quso.ai: clips and chapters from one upload

quso.ai makes chapters as well as Shorts, and adds scheduling in the same app. Free gives 75 credits a month at 720p with a watermark. Lite is $14.50/mo billed yearly ($29 monthly) for 100 credits and unlimited 1080p clips. Essential is $19.50/mo billed yearly ($39 monthly) and adds scheduling to 7 platforms. When we checked, quso.ai listed its yearly prices as a 50% off offer for new yearly plans ending November 1, 2026.

Our test: quso.ai found 5 Shorts and 4 chapters in our 10-minute video, each with a title and a score. Our free account could not download a clip. quso.ai runs pricing tests, so your free plan may differ.

Choppity: best for teams that want an API

Choppity finds moments, adds captions and lets you edit clips by text. Free gives 1 hour of AI video analysis a month, with no 1080p or 4K export. Starter is $16.80/mo billed yearly ($24 monthly) for 3 hours and 1080p and 4K export. Creator is $22.40/mo billed yearly ($32 monthly) and adds API access. Team is $33.60/mo billed yearly ($48 monthly) with a shared workspace, 6 social accounts and 5 brand templates.

Our test: Choppity made 6 clips of 50 to 62 seconds from our 10-minute video in about 7 minutes, with a transcript and scores for each. Our free account could not download a clip, and the setup had 7 steps before the first run.

GPT-Video: best for faceless channels

GPT-Video cuts long videos into face-tracked 9:16 clips, and you can change a clip by typing to its Editor Assistant. It also has rooms for split-screen, Reddit story and fake text videos. GPT-Video has no free plan: new accounts get a 14-day trial with 50 credits and no card. Starter is $15.83/mo billed yearly ($19 monthly) for 250 credits, about 4 hours of source video.

Our test: GPT-Video found 5 clips in our 10-minute video in about 20 seconds. The exported clip was 1080x1920 with no watermark. Captions dropped spaces next to highlighted words, and some clip notes overstated what the speakers said, so check both before posting.

SupoClip: lowest hosted price, or free to self-host

SupoClip is open source. Self-hosting is free with no video limit, but it needs Docker and your own AI provider keys. Hosted Pro is $8.33/mo billed yearly ($9.99 monthly) for 10 hours of video at 720p. Creator is $24.99/mo for 25 hours at 1080p.

Our test: a new hosted account had 0 free minutes, so we could not make a clip without picking a plan. For other free tools you run yourself, see open-source AI clipping tools.

Submagic: captions first, clips second

Submagic is built around animated captions, B-roll and zooms, and it can also cut long videos into clips. Submagic has no free plan. The trial covers 3 short videos with watermarked downloads. Starter is $12/mo billed yearly ($19 monthly) for 15 videos of up to 2 minutes each at 1080p, with no watermark. We have not tested Submagic. See OpusClip vs Submagic.

Eklipse and StreamLadder: best for streamers

Eklipse auto-clips Twitch, Kick and YouTube streams into vertical clips for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. Its free plan gives 3 clips per stream, and paid plans start at $24.99/mo. StreamLadder converts Twitch clips to vertical video with AI clip detection and captions, from $15/mo. Spikes Studio is another option for streamers, with a free plan of up to 30 minutes of video a month at 720p with a watermark. We have not tested these three. See Eklipse vs OpusClip and OpusClip vs StreamLadder.

Riverside and Descript: if you also record or edit

Riverside records remote podcasts and includes Magic Clips. Pro is $24/mo billed yearly ($35 monthly), with a 14-day trial that asks for a card or PayPal. Descript lets you cut a clip by editing the transcript. Hobbyist is $16/mo billed yearly ($24 monthly) for 10 media hours at 1080p with no watermark. In our tests, Riverside's trial needed a card, so we did not test its clips. Descript's free export was 720p with a logo on every frame.

How to choose

  • Podcasts and interviews: OpusClip Pro or Vizard Creator, both $14.50/mo billed yearly. Pick Vizard if you need more minutes (600 credits vs 300). Pick OpusClip Starter ($15/mo) if you don't want a yearly plan.
  • Twitch, Kick or YouTube streams: try Eklipse's free 3 clips per stream, then compare StreamLadder from $15/mo.
  • Faceless channels: GPT-Video for clips and story-style rooms. If you make faceless Shorts from a script, the voice matters more: see AI voice for faceless videos.
  • Agencies and teams: Vizard Business ($19.50/mo billed yearly, $39 monthly) for 20 social accounts and team seats, Choppity Team for shared workspaces and brand templates, or Klap Pro+ for 1,000 clips a month.
  • Lowest cost: SupoClip Pro at $8.33/mo billed yearly, or self-host it for free.
  • Before you pay: run one of your own videos through the free plan or trial. Of the seven clippers we tested, only OpusClip, Vizard and GPT-Video let us download a clip without paying.

Questions

What is the best AI video clipper?

For most podcasters and long-form YouTubers, OpusClip or Vizard. Both cost $14.50/mo billed yearly for their main paid plan. In our test, OpusClip found 14 clips from an 8-minute video in about 3 minutes. Vizard gives more minutes for the price: 600 credits on Creator vs 300 on OpusClip Pro. For streams, look at Eklipse or StreamLadder instead.

Is there a free AI clipper without a watermark?

Not among the big names: OpusClip, Vizard and quso.ai all list a watermark on their free plans. GPT-Video's trial export had no watermark, but it is a 14-day trial, not a free plan. 2short.ai's pricing page says exports have no watermark, which we have not tested. SupoClip is free with no watermark when you host it yourself. See free AI clipping tools for the full $0 options.

Can CapCut make clips automatically?

CapCut's website has an AI Clip Maker page that says it uses AI to identify video highlights and trim clips automatically. The same page says it can resize 16:9 video to 9:16 and add captions. The page links to the CapCut PC download and does not say whether the feature needs Pro or credits. We have not tested it. CapCut's free tier covers core editing, and Pro is $19.99/mo or $179.99/yr. See CapCut vs OpusClip.

OpusClip vs Klap: which should I pick?

In our same-video test, OpusClip found 14 clips and let us download one on its free Pro trial, with a logo. Klap found 7 and explained each score, but its trial could not download a clip. On price, Klap Basic is $14/mo billed yearly for 100 clips, and OpusClip Pro is $14.50/mo billed yearly for 300 credits. Full comparison: Klap vs OpusClip.

What is the best AI clipper for Twitch streams?

Eklipse and StreamLadder are built for streams. Eklipse clips Twitch, Kick and YouTube streams and gives 3 free clips per stream. StreamLadder converts Twitch clips to vertical video from $15/mo. We have not tested either.
